Ireland are celebrating as they sailed past Wales during the Six Nations’ opening weekend

A glittering Ireland started their 2022 Six Nations campaign perfectly, frolicking past Wales 29-7 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Centers Bundee Aki, Garry Ringrose and wing Andrew Conway (two) scored Ireland’s attempts, while captain Sexton added three conversions and a penalty kick in a display of free-flowing attacks from the hosts.

An injured Wales offered meek resistance as they were completely outplayed, with center Josh Adams sinned for a high tackle on Sexton and flanker Taine Basham scored a late consolation.

The performance and victory will have delighted Ireland’s head coach Andy Farrell as a full stadium was ready to pay tribute to some excellent play as the men in the green continued where they left off after an impressive autumn.
