Katie Taylor thinks of the Amanda Serrano match

After years of negotiations and talks, Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano finally official. To top it off, one of the greatest fights in women’s boxing history will be challenged in the historic Madison Square Garden venue.

Prior to the massive match, ‘KT’ gave his first public thoughts on the match. She sat down with Matchroom Boxing for an interview to discuss the size of the match.

Taylor said:

“I think this is definitely one of the old kind of fights. A career that defines combat, I think. I think if I retire right now from the sport, my legacy is always in place right now.But I feel like this is definitely one of those fights that defines my career. It’s what makes me so excited about the kind of fights, it’s the kind of fights I’ve always wanted. “Of course, I think there will be many more matches in the future. But right now, my mind is completely focused on this one at hand.”

The match is expected to be one of the biggest of the year. Both Taylor and Serrano are considered two of the best pound-for-pound female boxers on the planet.

Katie Taylor will put her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring Lightweight titles at stake in the match. ‘KT’ is currently sitting at 20-0 in his professional career and comes after a decision victory over Firuza Sharipova in December 2021.

Amanda Serrano, on the other hand, has a 42-1-1 in her professional career. She is currently the reigning WBC, WBO and IBO female featherweight champion who is heading into her fight with Taylor.

Katie Taylor Vs. Amanda Serrano has competition on April 30th

Although this massive battle will go down on April 30, they will be fighting some big competitions.

Fans hoping to see the showdown between Taylor and Serrano will have to tune in to DAZN. On ESPN, however, there will be a super featherweight fight between Shakur Stevenson and Oscar Valdez. The fight is one of the most important of the year for the 130lbs weight class.

Taylor and Serrano, who are going directly against the super featherweight fight, are likely to be an indicator of how women’s main names will be seen moving forward. Women’s boxing has generally been underestimated throughout the history of the sport. However, the battle between ‘KT’ and ‘The Real Deal’ has the chance to change that view.

A big factor will be how the sub-cards are filled out. Right now, not many matches have been announced for the undercard of Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano. But fans can expect details of the card to be announced in the coming weeks.
