What customers search for
These are the kinds of searches that bring electricians their calls. Your profile and your reviews decide who shows up.
- electrician near me
- consumer unit upgrade [your town]
- EICR certificate for landlord
- rewire cost [your town]
- EV charger installer near me
When to ask for a review
Ask when you hand over the certificate or finish explaining what you have done. That is a natural point where the customer is looking at paperwork and feeling reassured. Send the request by text from your phone while you are still on site or that evening.
Set up your Google profile properly
- Choose Electrician as your main category. Add specific services such as consumer unit replacement, rewiring, EICR testing and EV charger installation.
- If you are registered with a competent person scheme such as NICEIC or NAPIT, say so in your description and on your website. Only claim what is true and current.
- Mention landlord and letting-agent work separately if you do it. Those customers often search for specific services.
- Add photos of tidy consumer units, neat cable runs and finished installs. They show care better than words.
- Keep your phone number and opening hours identical on your profile and your website.

Hi [name], thanks for having me in. If you have a minute, an honest Google review would help other people find a local electrician they can trust: [link]
The wording asks for honest feedback and does not offer anything in return. That keeps you within Google's rules and UK consumer law. What you can and cannot ask.
One thing to avoid
Do not offer a discount or a free extra in return for a review. It breaks Google's rules and can get your reviews removed, and in the UK it can also breach consumer law.
Replying when it goes wrong
An example of a calm, specific reply for this trade:
Thank you for your feedback, [name]. I'm sorry the job overran. I should have kept you updated. I'd like to put this right, so please contact me on [number]. [Your name]
