Google reviews for heating engineers and boiler installers

Heating work is seasonal and often urgent. When the boiler fails in winter, customers search and ring whoever looks most trustworthy, quickly. Heating engineers also have something many trades lack: customers who come back every year for a service. That makes asking for reviews easier, because the relationship is already ongoing.

What customers search for

These are the kinds of searches that bring heating engineers their calls. Your profile and your reviews decide who shows up.

  • boiler service near me
  • boiler repair [your town]
  • Gas Safe engineer near me
  • new boiler installation cost
  • central heating not working

When to ask for a review

Ask straight after a service or repair, when you hand over the paperwork. For annual service customers who have already reviewed you, do not ask again. For those who have not, ask once at their next visit rather than every year.

Set up your Google profile properly

  • Choose Heating contractor or Boiler repair service as your main category. Add Gas installation or other secondary categories that fit.
  • Gas work in the UK must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Put your registration number on your website and describe your gas work clearly. Customers can check the register.
  • List services separately: boiler servicing, repairs, installations, powerflushing, landlord gas safety certificates.
  • Mention the brands you install and service only if it is true and you are trained to do so.
  • Be open about out-of-hours cover and callout charges. Surprises at the door lead to bad reviews.

Example messages

Short, honest and easy to act on. Edit them so they sound like you.

Hi Sam, thanks for choosing [Your business] for the boiler service. I would really appreciate your honest feedback on Google. It only takes a minute and helps other people find a trusted local heating engineer: [your review link] Thanks, [Your name]

Hi [name], glad we got your heating working again. If you have a minute, an honest review on Google would help other people find an engineer they can trust: [link]

The wording asks for honest feedback and does not offer anything in return. That keeps you within Google's rules and UK consumer law. What you can and cannot ask.

One thing to avoid

Peak season is busy, so the request gets forgotten. Sending it in the same moment you hand over the certificate is how you stop that happening.

Replying when it goes wrong

An example of a calm, specific reply for this trade:

Thank you for the feedback, [name]. I'm sorry you had to wait for the repair. I know how stressful it is without heating. Please call me on [number] and I'll make sure we look into it. [Your name]
