What customers search for
These are the kinds of searches that bring roofers their calls. Your profile and your reviews decide who shows up.
- roof repair near me
- leaking roof emergency
- flat roof replacement [your town]
- gutter repair
- chimney repair near me
When to ask for a review
Ask when the scaffolding is down and the site is clean, while the customer has just seen the result. For leak repairs, a short follow-up after the next spell of heavy rain is a good moment, because that is when they know the repair has worked.
Set up your Google profile properly
- Choose Roofing contractor as your main category. Add secondary ones such as Gutter service where you do that work.
- Add before and after photos taken with the customer's permission. Avoid anything that shows their house number or street.
- If you hold an accreditation such as TrustMark or a trade federation membership, show it in your description and keep it current.
- Describe the types of roof you work on: pitched, flat, slate, tile, single-ply. This helps customers searching for exactly that.
- Show your service area honestly. Do not claim towns you do not cover.

Hi [name], hope the roof has held up in the rain. If you have a minute, an honest review on Google would help other people find a roofer they can trust: [link]
The wording asks for honest feedback and does not offer anything in return. That keeps you within Google's rules and UK consumer law. What you can and cannot ask.
One thing to avoid
Roofing has a reputation problem with rogue traders, so look like the opposite: a real name, real photos, a real phone number and reviews from named local customers.
Replying when it goes wrong
An example of a calm, specific reply for this trade:
Thank you for the feedback, [name]. I'm sorry you had a leak after the repair. I'd like to come and look at it. Please call me on [number]. [Your name]
